SAP launches Joule Work and Studio for enterprise AI agents
SAP launched Joule Work and Joule Studio in October 2026, marking general availability of the company's platform for deploying and building autonomous enterprise agents across business functions.
General availability for Joule Work, Joule Studio, and SAP Autonomous Suite assistants and agents began in a phased approach SAP. The announcements came during SAP Connect in early October and SAP TechEd in Berlin on October 27, 2026 SAP.
What Joule Work and Studio Do
Joule Work functions as SAP's unified AI user interface for accessing autonomous agents and assistants. Joule Studio is the development environment where enterprise teams build and extend custom agents without requiring deep technical expertise. SAP said Studio offers both no-code and pro-code tools, and agents built on the platform can plan and reason, coordinate multi-step processes, invoke APIs, work with documents, and collaborate with users or other agents across SAP and non-SAP systems SAP.
The Studio runtime grants developers access to more than 70 AI models for building autonomous capabilities SAP.
Early Deployment Results
SAP reported that Joule Work was already live internally with 110,000 SAP employees before the October general availability announcement. The company documented 20% productivity gains across finance, HR and procurement functions in those early rollouts SAP. The Autonomous Suite assistants and agents were reported to already be delivering value in customer environments as of early October SAP.
Free Runtime Promotion Through Year-End
SAP announced a time-limited promotion offering free deployment and runtime for custom agents built on Joule Studio for selected customers through December 2026 SAP. The company positioned the promotion as an incentive for early adoption and pilot deployments ahead of production scaling.
The Joule Work and Studio launch represents SAP's effort to democratize enterprise AI agent building across its customer base, moving beyond pre-built assistants to a platform where organizations can construct domain-specific autonomous agents tailored to their business processes and workflows.
