Glean adds six MCP server templates for agents
Glean shipped six new remote Model Context Protocol server templates in its October 1, 2026 release (version 559), expanding the developer platform's connectivity options for agent workflows Glean.
New Templates Span Five Enterprise Domains
The templates connect agents to distinct functional areas. GIS Cloud provides mapping, layer, and spatial data access; Lightrun enables inspection of live runtime values and metrics; MYOB offers read-only financial query capabilities; PaidSync handles advertising campaign analysis and management; Avoma integrates meeting tools; and Prisma Postgres manages database operations Glean.
Most templates implement per-user OAuth authentication, a standard that isolates credentials and scopes by individual user rather than sharing account-level access. This design pattern reduces exposure if a single token is compromised and aligns with enterprise security practices for multi-tenant deployments.
Admin-Driven Deployment Model
Administrators control which servers agents can reach. The templates are discoverable in the MCP server directory within Glean's Admin console, where admins select and enable only the integrations their organization requires Glean. This opt-in approach gives enterprises granular control over agent capabilities and data exposure—critical for regulated industries and risk-averse deployments.
Broader MCP Ecosystem Play
The release reflects a wider industry shift toward standardized agent-to-service bridging. The Model Context Protocol, now broadly adopted across agent frameworks, decouples agent logic from the tools and data sources it can access. By shipping pre-built templates rather than requiring engineers to write custom connectors, Glean lowers the activation energy for enterprises adopting agents in finance, operations, marketing, and infrastructure teams.
Prior Glean releases have focused on search and knowledge retrieval; these templates signal an expansion into action-oriented agents that read and manipulate state in external systems. The MYOB read-only constraint and PaidSync campaign management scope suggest templated guardrails are built in—a practical hedge against unbounded agent autonomy.
