OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 with interactive Intelligent UI
OpenAI launched GPT-6 in ChatGPT globally on October 16, 2026, beginning with ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. The rollout expanded to Free and Go plans on October 17, 2026.
The headline capability is Intelligent UI, which fundamentally changes how the model presents information. Rather than text-only responses, Intelligent UI enables responses combining text, visuals, and interactive elements, including graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts, calculators, bill splitters, and games that users can engage with directly within the conversation.
Model Variants and Availability
OpenAI deployed two model variants to support the rollout. GPT-6 Sol powers ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans, while GPT-6 Luna serves Free and Go users. For enterprise customers, availability depends on workspace administrator settings.
The company maintained its existing reasoning capability: GPT-6 Astra continues to power the Pro reasoning option, which does not support Intelligent UI. This separation allows users seeking step-by-step reasoning chains to retain that mode while others access the new interactive experience.
Product Mechanics and Use Cases
Intelligent UI shifts the agent's output from passive text to actionable interfaces. Instead of asking users to interpret numbers or copy-paste data into external tools, GPT-6 can now render interactive task-completion surfaces. A financial query might return an embedded bill splitter; a planning task could display a clickable form. Charts become draggable and explorable rather than static images.
This represents a material change in how ChatGPT operates as an agent in user workflows. Rather than stopping at information delivery, the model can now provision interactive experiences that users consume and interact with inside the chat interface—reducing friction for tasks like calculations, form filling, and decision-making tools.

The staggered rollout—one day for paid tiers, one day for free users—suggests OpenAI is managing infrastructure load while ensuring global parity.
