Google ships Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform with stateful agents
Google Cloud released its Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to general availability on August 12, 2026, bringing stateful agent execution, identity management, and operational visibility to enterprise deployments Google Cloud.
The platform ships with four core components. Agent Identity provides credential management for agents operating within enterprise networks and external systems. Agent Registry catalogs deployed agents across the organization, enabling discovery and governance. Agent Observability logs agent actions and decisions in detail, addressing audit and compliance requirements. Memory Bank and Sessions now support multi-regional and global endpoints, allowing agents to maintain conversational state across distributed infrastructure Google Cloud.
Capabilities Built for Production
Google framed the August release as maturation of earlier previews. "That's why today, we are announcing some of our most popular capabilities are available for everyone, from Agent Runtime to Agent Identity," the company stated Google Cloud. The stateful agent model addresses a core limitation in earlier agent systems—the ability for agents to remember context and previous interactions across sessions, essential for multi-step workflows in customer service, supply chain, and back-office automation.
The general availability milestone follows earlier announcements. Gemini Enterprise itself reached GA on July 29, 2026 Google Cloud, establishing the foundation for the Agent Platform's August release.
Enterprise Adoption Friction Points
The platform directly addresses documented friction in enterprise agent deployment: lack of identity isolation, opacity in agent behavior, and state management across regions. Observability features allow security and compliance teams to audit agent decisions without manual log inspection. Agent Identity ensures agents operate under defined permissions, preventing unauthorized API access or data leakage.
The multi-regional memory support removes a constraint for global enterprises—agents can now access session context regardless of deployment location, enabling consistent experiences across subsidiaries and data residency requirements.
What Ships Now
All four components are available for production use as of August 12, 2026. Existing Gemini Enterprise customers can enable Agent Platform features through Google Cloud console or Terraform; new customers provision instances through standard Google Cloud onboarding.
